star for including the weird and worrying questions from the inbox that he refused to answer--we should know our limits, people Could I cool down the Earth by capturing a comet and dropping it in the ocean, like an ice cube in a glass of water?

The CO 2 released from the comet would raise the temperature of the Earth for centuries. It wouldn't just cancel out the cooling effect of the ice—over time, the comet's greenhouse effect would deliver as much heat as if you'd just let it slam into the planet and vaporize. [5] Although letting a comet slowly decay on the surface would definitely be preferable to a high-speed impact, as any dinosaur from the end of the Cretaceous can tell you.a b " 'What If' There Were An Entire Book Devoted To Absurd Hypotheticals?". star for not having more ridiculous questions like that instead of ones where all your blood is drawn out of your finger by a ridiculously high density bullet, forming a giant blood bubble around said bullet and killing you Yes it is a nice book but I do not recommend that you wolf down this book as I did in 2 days, because it’s like TOO MUCH and it can get annoying. You keep thinking of your own absurd questions – It's clever, but if you know anything about Randall Munroe, that won't come as a surprise to you. And it's funny, and witty (which are two different things, by the way.) But again to readers of XKCD this won't come as any sort of surprise. The slightly shorter answers let us read about more topics, and I was pretty surprised by the variety this time! There were a lot of interesting questions, and it makes me wish my brain was that interesting and imaginative too. The humor absolutely did not disappoint, and there were so many more footnotes in this book, which I absolutely loved. The footnotes are one of the best parts of the book for sure :)Allain, Rhett (2014-12-19). "Book Review: What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions". Wired. Archived from the original on 2016-04-06. The topics in this book were not just limited to strictly "science," which I thought was super interesting since it was still approached scientifically. This was super funny, educational, interesting, everything I needed! The #1 New York Times bestselling author of What If? and How To answers more of the weirdest questions you never thought to ask
