Instead of being guided by a wire, the mower uses a camera mounted on the front of the device to scan the lawn in front of it. If it sees a surface that isn’t grass, it turns round and heads off in a different direction. Because of this it doesn’t need a perimeter wire or a charging station – when it’s cut enough you simply switch it off and put it away. The battery is removable and is charged in a separate charging unit. For more information see my video review below. You can see just how well this mower performed and how the cut was precise and sharp. I was cutting the lawn at 40mm to ensure I was as close to the 1/3 rule as possible. Why re-turf when you can
The first time I tested this lawn mower out was in the afternoon, after a night of heavy rain. As a result, the grass was a little wetter than I would have liked, although this can be quite a common occurrence in NE Scotland! I recently tested the cordless 34cm and 41cm LawnMaster mowers and was really impressed with them. Knowing that the brand also makes a range of corded mowers, I simply had to give one a try so I have chosen the LawnMaster 1800w 40cm electric lawn mower, and I was just as impressed by this machine as its cordless cousins.
As I mentioned earlier, handle height can be adjusted too. Being tall, I often have to stoop when using certain push mowers, but I didn’t have that problem with this one. The LawnMaster L10 is unusual among robot lawnmowers in that it doesn’t give you much control. As with most robot mowers around this price, it follows a random pattern around your lawn, using the principle that if it keeps mowing it will cover the entire lawn eventually. Most robot lawn mowers still rely on a physical floor-level guide wire to ensure that they stay within the boundary of your lawn, instead of disappearing into a flower bed or vegetable patch. However, the EcoFlow Blade is an altogether different proposition, using satellite navigation to ensure it stays exactly where you want.
