A traditional British pub garden is opening up in the heart of the Covent Garden Piazza, specially for the King’s Coronation. Art installations, special Coronation-themed menus and street bunting will be laid out for the occasion. There will be daily entertainment too, and the garden opens early from, 21 April so you can pop by another day if you’re busy on the actual Coronation. Decorations will extend from the Market Building in the centre of the Piazza right down to the Seven Dials and there will be specially commissioned street art to wander past. From 21 April

Families can bring a picnic and enjoy these spaces together. If you can’t make it to Westminster Abbey (or for some reason have misplaced your invitation), then surely Manchester Cathedral is a fine substitute. Watch the crowning of King Charles III in this historic place of worship, from the Coronation ceremony itself through to the new King’s Procession. The platinum selling Puppini Sisters and queens of close harmony will be performing swing-style re-workings of modern pop songs on stage between 6pm–8pm. Oldham Council is promising the region’s largest event, with live screenings in Parliament Square, as well as a town-centre festival of British tribute acts including Queen II, The Threetles and Gladness. Exploring coronations and street parties at Chelmsford Museum This village pub will be throwing a street food festival to mark the event. The festival, which will be free to enter, will be taking place on bank holiday Monday (May 8) in the pub’s garden, with DJs and kid’s entertainment from 12pm to 9pm. Over by Central Park, our distinctive willow crown, created to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, will be adorned with stunning solar red, white and blue lights from 2 May.
Bewdley Station will be holding a coronation celebration for kids on Saturday, May 6. There will be a face painter from 10am until 2.30pm, outside the shop and buffet. There will also be coronation craft activity sessions starting from 3pm, with walk-in or pre-booked spots available. Saturday, May 6. The 48 Social Club will be open from 11am. There is a parade round the town where all members are invited along. Parade leaves the hall at 5pm. ‘The Prodclaimers’ will be entertaining in the club afterwards where this is open to anyone to attend. Artist and illustrator Shana Pagano Lohrey, also alumni of the Royal Drawing School, has been selected to draw at the Coronation Concert, capturing the atmosphere, crowds and ambience of the event.
