About this deal

Being able to read the player’s perspective of one the biggest turning points of my life just made me love everything that happened this summer more. It really opened my eyes to the journey that these women have to take (unlike Saka, who I absolutely adore, being signed to Arsenal’s Academy at about 8 years of age). The book starts with a dark time in Beth's life, then goes back to her childhood, her family, and of course, her start in football till the current day. Now, Beth shares the challenges that shaped her, what she faced on the journey to the top, and the life events that made her stronger – from being dropped from the England squad and receiving devastating family news, to finding her best form under the guidance of Jonas Eidevall and Sarina Wiegman.

A very inspiring story that journals Beth Mead's football career from the start all the way up until the infamous Euros win. In February 2022 she launched the Beth Mead Scholarship with Teesside University to support students who have the potential to reach a professional level in women's football. Filled with positive lessons and an exclusive account of England’s triumphant Euros campaign, Beth offers readers of all ages a heartfelt, behind-the-scenes look into her remarkable journey to glory.I will admit I am not a football fan (male or female teams), but living and growing up in London, it is impossible to do or not take notice when England is playing. She's also very open about the mental struggles she's faced both on and off the pitch, and it's refreshing to see someone talk about it so honestly. I feel like I learnt a lot about professional football and what it entails and it has only increased my respect for professional footballers.

This is one of the reasons Beth had for writing this book to shine a light on and hopefully inspire the next generation of women/Lioness. Since the publication of this book June Mead has sadly passed away ( “If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever. The very core message of this book (besides stressing the importance of women’s sports) is simply that there is more to life than just football, and that you never truly know what someone is dealing with despite succeeding on the pitch.Filled with positive lessons and an exclusive account of England's triumphant Euros campaign, Beth offers readers of all ages a heartfelt, behind-the-scenes look into her remarkable journey to glory.

I don’t often read autobiographies, and have no time for the culture of celebrity, but this book is different. Her talent was quickly identified and she eventually signed for WSL side Sunderland before joining Arsenal. I remember the days of, football is for boys, you can't play with us and I am pleased to see that sport is moving in the right direction, but there is still a long way to go.

She was the top goalscorer in the UEFA Women's Euro 2022, which saw England crowned champions - their first international trophy since the 1966 Men's FIFA World Cup. From being placed in the local boys' team as a child because her mum wanted her to run off her boundless energy, to joining Middlesbrough FC's Centre of Excellence and making her professional debut at Sunderland, Beth and women's football have come a long way. this book put me through the motions, to be able to relive the euros again made me so happy, but reading about june made me so sad, but honestly if your a woso fan, read this book. I so appreciate Beth's vulnerability and honesty sharing her struggles and I think they will help a lot of people.
