About this deal

The twist in the end wasn’t very effective as it just confirms the readers suspicion that it isn’t a dream. It's not surprising that the stinger always comes at the end, because if Horowitz knows one thing, it's certainly the technique to plot a good suspense story. The collection has 17 stories and as seen in anthologies of this sort - the stories are of varying quality.

Gary ignores the warning and goes for a walk we’re he is ambushed by wasps, attacked by a bear and constantly tripped by moving grass. The stories are set in England, but references to 'sidewalk', 'paper route' (meaning round) and 'public school' (meaning comprehensive) soon make it clear that the original language has been Americanised. They might seem harmless enough – a camera, a computer, a bath tub and so on but the havoc they wreak in the lives of people is rather unimaginable. After cutting my teeth on the hugely popular show, Robin of Sherwood, I moved on to work with David Suchet and his brilliant portrayal of Hercule Poirot, writing about nine or ten episodes of Agatha Christie's Poirot. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Judging the book for what it is, a collection of nasty and creepy stories for young people, it deserves four stars. Me han gustado, se leen rápido, se disfrutan y ideales para estas épocas de Halloween y Día de muertos. I loaned this book from the library expecting horror-themed short stories, and what I got was indeed horrible, but in the badly written, blatantly prejudiced way rather than pleasantly spooky. The build up to the climax was well plotted, I must admit but the ending was disappointing and much expected.

There were eleven more books in the series - the latest, Never Say Die, was published in 2017 - and they are now being developed for TV. All the stories do not revolve around the supernatural - a few of them are scary crime stories and one was mixture of crime and the supernatural. This means that while veteran horror fans might easily guess a story's ending, the ride there is still entertaining. If that weren't enough, the penultimate story, 'Twist Cottage', features an old thatched cottage that has tiles falling off the roof! A Vividly imagined journey with the introduction of quirky characters makes this short story enticing and engaging. No problems though, until we read The Night Bus - a time-warp story that depends for its effect on knowing the difference between British pre-decimal and decimal coins. Twist Cottage – A man goes to sinister lengths to rid himself and his son of his dreadful second wife by moving to a cottage haunted by the ghost of a witch who kills any woman who enters.

Most teenagers, of the kind the book is aimed at, have no trouble picking up on clues that tell us which side of the Atlantic we're supposed to be on.

He manages to find them and is relieved to hear that they have not taken any pictures of each other – until he is told that his brother took a picture of the London skyline. For example, Kevin genuinely believes he deserves a high-paying job and career despite his ignorance and lack of skills.
