About this deal

Although they both use phantom speaker to produce height, but the use of satellite speaker makes height localization of the HW-Q950A is a bit better than the HW-Q900A. But even so, talking about its height sound performance, their performance is not much different. The sound profile of the HW-Q950A may be more balanced and neutral, but sound profile of the HW-Q900A is also already well balanced. Additionally, their height distortion performance of the HW-Q950A is also a bit better, although HW-Q900A is also already has good distortion performance. And at max volume, height speaker of the HW-Q950A can get a bit louder, which is around 90 dB SPL while the HW-Q900A gets around 88 db SPL. Overall, their height sound performance is equally good. When used for listening to music, their performance is also equally great overall. They have Auto EQ feature that can help to make their sound profile is neutral, well balanced that certainly is good for most genres of music. That is not only that, they both also have a lot of sound enhancement feature, allowing you to customize and maximize sound reproduction according to your taste. You can individually use Presets EQ or Graphic EQ, Bass Adjustment, Treble Adjustment, Surround Adjustment, Woofer Adjustment, etc. Additionally, their excellent stereo frequency response also makes stereo sound of the music will be more pronounced. And if you have a large room or have a crowded party, you don’t need to worry since they both can get very loud. The HW-Q900A soundbar has excellent stereo performance. With standard presets, it has a neutral sound profile suitable for listening to a variety of audio content. Nevertheless, the low frequencies do not reach the deep ones a little. Therefore, heavy bass music sounds truncated. But the Q900A soundbar has a graphic equalizer, as well as separate bass and treble settings to help customize its sound. Auto EQ

Audio file formats supported by the Q930B, finally, include AAC, MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC, ALAC, and AIFF.

Set Up and Operation

Hard impact sounds hit with a little more unwanted politeness (rather than lovable brutality) than they do on the Q990B, and while the balance of sound is generally excellent, occasionally really bright trebles can sound a little too prominent. Seemingly because the smaller main soundbar doesn’t have quite as much counterpointing low-end grunt as the Q990B’s. Both of the Samsung HW-Q900 and HW-Q950A have a discrete center channel and their center sound performance is equally great. At max Volume, they both can get around 97 dB SPL, which means it is fairly loud. Additionally, frequency response of their center speaker is also fairly balanced, particularly in mid range. This makes them can produce clear and accurate dialogue with detail. Just like their stereo sound, the distortion performance of their center sound is also equally great. Not just in normal listening volume, their sound is also heard clearly with almost no distortion at max volume, so don’t need to worry to set them at max volume when they are used in a large room or crowded party.

The Q800A is not just about ‘big moments’, though. It’s also sensitive and sophisticated enough in the way it projects its sound to ensure that no detail goes missing in even the densest mixes – no matter how subtle or quiet it might be. Although we were provided with Samsung's new Q950A soundbar for the purposes of our review, we chose to limit our usage of it in an effort to get a better understanding of the Neo QLED's built-in sound offering. Samsung HW-Q950A and HW-Q900A is the premium model of Samsung’s 2021 soundbar lineup. The Samsung HW-Q900A is the next generation of the HW-Q900T while the Q950A is the next generation of the HW-Q950T. Both of them are great Soundbar for mixed usage that supported by a lot of sound enhancement features like Auto Room Correction, Graphics EQ and Presets, SpaceFit Sound, Q Symphony, etc. The main difference between them is their setup where the HW-Q900A is 7.1.2 setup with 406 watts of total system power while the Q950A is 11.1.4 setup with 616 of total sound output. They may use the same bar that has 7.0.2 setup and wireless sub-woofer. However, the HW-Q950A has two satellite speakers while the HW-Q900A doesn’t have. But even so, you can still buy a satellite speaker separately that compatible with the HW-Q900A like SWA-9500S that has 2.0.2 setup. With additional satellite speaker like SWA-9500S, this will make your HW-Q900A has 9.1.4 setup. So, even if you buy separate satellite speaker like SW-9500A, this doesn’t make it is same to the HW-Q950A since the HW-Q950A use satellite speaker with the number model of PS-RA95BB that has 4.0.2 setup. The Samsung Q900A Sound Bar has a fantastic array of sound enhancement features. There is a function of automatic equalizer correction from the room. But as we said earlier, this feature works dubiously. In addition to the equalizer, there are several presets: “Standard”, “Surround”, “Game” and “Adaptive sound”. With these functions, you can make voices clearer using the AVA Active Voice Enhancer. Q-Symphony This wireless connectivity is most effectively accessed via Samsung’s Smart Things iOS / Android app, which also makes it much easier to get the Q800A onto your home network than it used to be with Samsung soundbars in days gone by.Since they both have neutral, well balanced sound profile, particularly in middle, this makes them can produce clear and accurate dialogue. This certainly makes their performance is great when used for watching TV Shows or Podcast which have a lot of dialogue. Even if you have a large room, dialogue will be still heard obviously and accurately since they can get very loud and have good distortion performance at max volume. That is not only that, both of the Samsung HW-Q900A and HW-Q950A also have a feature called Active Voice Amplifier that helps to make dialogue more crisp and clear. And since they both have a discrete center channel, voices can be accurately localized to a pinpoint location within the sound image. This is perhaps a little disappointing in the sense that it suggests Samsung hasn’t any significant internal hardware changes since 2020. However, in pure form factor terms, we were actually fans of the Q800T’s design. So naturally we’re fans of the identical Q800A too.

In addition this app can act as a remote, it also allows you to control some soundbar’s setting like select different Sound Mode, Presets EQ, access Graphic EQ, etc. Nevertheless, with this app, you cannot adjust the bass, treble, center, height, surround, and rear level where it only can be controlled by their remote. Also, you cannot active their Virtual Sound feature.

Samsung HW-Q950A vs HW-Q900A Side by Side Comparison Key Specification of the Samsung HW-Q950A and HW-Q900A Specs and Features As well as suggesting that the Q930B is a more bespoke and hopefully balanced product than Samsung’s previous step-down soundbars, this smaller main soundbar could also appeal to people whose TV or furniture design makes it hard to accommodate the Q990B’s bigger main unit. This ‘complete dome of sound’ Atmos point does raise the spectre of the Q930B’s missing rear left and rear right channels compared with the Q990B. However, while these extra channels do increase the general presence of the rear speakers in the Q990B’s overall sound balance, the Q930B manages to disperse its forward side-channel sounds well enough from the main soundbar not to leave you feeling (unless you have a really huge room) as if there’s a glaring ‘gap’ in the Dolby Atmos sound dome.
