The ESN successfully raised the issue of stammering as a disability across key industry players in the UK; educating employers about the causes of stammering and the impact a stammer can have on an individual. The ESN had six founding members (Civil Service, EY, FirstGroup, KPMG, Prudential and Shell) and additional partner members and members across the public and private sectors. The British Stammering Association coordinated the Network, employing a part-time ESN Membership Manager, Helen Carpenter. The ESN provided support through: Building on the success of the Employers Stammering Network, we are now planning the next five years in relation to stammering and work. We will be having a series of meetings to formulate our plans so watch this space of further information.This is a great idea for a book – having just had a baby and with in laws 300 miles away I suspect we’ll be stopping more often on long journeys. I think it was John Henry Borrell rather than an ancestor of his who emigrated from Switzerland, though it may have been an ancestor of his who had left France. There is a Bill (c.78) for his naturalization in Britain dated 1805. Although the Revocation of Nantes was in 1685 it is my impression that the Huguenots continued to leave France in dribs and drabs for many years after the revocation. I have lots of Huguenot ancestors from La Rochelle and they seems to come to UK at different times. A splendid idea (I never discovered its predecessor!). We rarely use the UK Motorway service stations, except for the loos, which are usually quite good. Our attempts to find a good eatery just off the Motorway have been rather hit and miss, so the guide could be very helpful. What a brilliant idea, and hopefully you can support local businesses and not multi national companies.

We are STAMMA

Since it launched, STAMMA has grown its staff team from three to eleven, and introduced a whole range of new activities and services, such as a webchat, online workshops, support groups, seminars, social events, interviews, Q&As and quiz nights, podcasts and parent videos to name but a few. After nearly 30 years based at Bethnal Green, we eventually moved to a new home near Trafalgar Square. Campaigns Windsor did become well known in the London theatrical scene, but it was the "Carry On" comedies that made her a star. Although she appeared in only nine films in the long-running series (she left because she thought they were getting too risqué), she made such an impression as the basically good-hearted but dizzy sexpot that many of the series' fans believe she was in many more than she actually was. She almost didn't get the role originally, as she and series regular Kenneth Williams took an instant dislike to each other, but that was soon overcome and they became lifelong friends. Most of what I know about the Borrells come from the researches of a family member Peggy Sparrow 11 .
