About this deal

The supporting cast includes Emma Thompson, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman, Julie Walters, Maggie Smith, Robbie Coltrane, David Thewlis and Timothy Spall. Lupin is one of my favorite characters from the books and I can't imagine anyone but Thewlis playing him. It was the first appearance of Michael Gambon as Professor Albus Dumbledore, due to Richard Harris's death in 2002.

Those two are in on the primary action this time around, which leaves precious little time for Profesor McGonagall (Maggie Smith) to do anything, although as always we treasure every moment with Professor Snape (Alan Rickamn slowly milking the role of a lifetime for everything it is worth).Harry must confront soul-sucking Dementors, outsmart a werewolf and learn the truth about the escaped prisoner of Azkaban - Sirius Black. He persuaded producers not to recast his role (they agreed) but shortly before the film was released Harris died.

Christopher Lee and Richard Attenborough expressed interest in taking over the role but ultimately it went to Michael Gambon (The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Open Range). For instance, after learning of Black's "betrayal" of Harry's parents, he shouts in anger "I'm gonna kill him", [72] whereas in the book he's "too stunned to move". Radcliffe works very well with both David Thewlis, in the role of Lupin, and Gary Oldman, in the role of Sirius Black. Und so richtig passte es auch nirgends rein, Harry über die Urheber der Karte des Rumtreibers aufzuklären (großer Seufzer! These are a huge step up from DVDs, emphasising the visuals of every spell and making you feel as though you’re attending Hogwarts alongside the likes of Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.Jany Temime joined the film as costume designer, eventually working on all of the following instalments in the series. One of my few complaints about Azkaban is that I wish it was a little longer so I could enjoy it just a little more. By now, as Harry approaches adolescence the tone of the narrative changes and we get a more interesting, more complex and darker story. Many of this scene's lines are redistributed amongst Cornelius Fudge and Minerva McGonagall; in compensation, McGonagall's exposition of the Animagus transformation is instead given by Snape.

Harry might have the raw talent, but Hermione has the smarts and this time she has ample opportunity to use them. The film then opened in the United Kingdom on 31 May 2004, [84] and on 4 June 2004 in the United States. Alfonso Cuarón (Great Expectations, Y Tu Mamá También, Children of Men) steps into the director's chair and makes an immediate difference in the tone and look of the film.

The third film was the first to extensively use real-life locations, as much of the first two films had been shot in the studio. Mick LaSalle of the San Francisco Chronicle lauded the film's more mature tone and said it was "darker, more complex, rooted in character. Thankfully not all is lost, there is still the third part of the Creating the World of Harry Potter documentary. My issue is this: if it is considered important that all the people who worked on the movie get the recognition they rightly deserve (and which I certainly don't begrudge them), why does the movie industry allow their work to be decimated and degraded the way this movie does?
