About this deal

There is access to all the best streaming services including Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, as well as iVi, ÖKKO and Megogo. The colours are decent, but since it’s only an 8bit + FRC panel, you only get 100% coverage of the sRGB spectrum, rather than a wider color space like DCI-P3. We asked Hisense about these claims, and their engineers told us that the peak brightness is only for about 1s on a 10% slide, so it's mainly about sudden bright flashes of light in some movies. The lack of absolute contrast is more obvious when viewing in dim surroundings and black crush is also more noticeable with tricky scenes, like the opening of John Wick: Chapter 3, where backgrounds lose shadow detail in the darker parts of the image. Still, it has very good peak brightness that helps it deliver an impressive HDR experience, with great SDR brightness to match.

A lot is crammed into a small amount of space, but the design feels relatively unique, which is notable in a flooded television market. It has a direct LED backlight with no local dimming and it features HDR10, HDR10+, HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) and Dolby Vision for high dynamic range playback, but this is limited to a measured peak brightness of around 240 nits. It manages to sport a sleek appearance, with a thin bezel and an angular two-tone base with subtle diagonal lines – as well as a trapezium-shaped stand that gives it a futuristic look, while offering better balance than a pair of feet likely would. Starting with their 2021 TVs, the flagship ULED lineup has a U in front of the model names, while the entry-level models have an A. The Roku Plus Series QLED is a strong competitor to the Hisense U6/U6K but falls a bit short due to the better color accuracy of the Hisense. Whether looking at the dim bulbs of a pub, car headlights gleaming after dark, or the daylight cascading through an office window, this Hisense set was fully able to focus up to 700 nits peak brightness where it mattered, without notable blooming in surrounding pixels.

This is a mid-range LCD TV in the Hisense range and is rated at 300 nits by the company, so we set about measuring the peak brightness of the TV as we always do with various window sizes. Other manufacturers have very wide color gamuts on their TVs without using quantum dots, but when a TV is branded as being a 'QLED', a term which Samsung has been using for their quantum dot TVs since 2017, you know it has great colors. Blacks were good when viewed in a well-lit room with just some slight crush being visible in darker scenes. The VIDAA system is intuitive to use and runs at a decent speed from button press to app opening and playing, plus there is Netflix, Prime Video and YouTube in 4K HDR.However, no company is perfect, and Hisense's TVs can suffer from quality control problems like uniformity issues and motion artifacts. Enjoy Over one billion shades of colours can be reproduced on your display with quantum dot technology with Hisense TV brings breakthrough immersive audio experience to your home whether it is shows, games or live sports.
