About this deal

Throw in a greedy corporation and precious few red herrings, and the mysteries were limited only to the details—the general story arc was clear. The important thing about Dead Silence is that it never felt like it was ripping off another story, but it paid clear homage in many places, and I loved that element of it so much! With no easy path to escape, Claire decides to further amplify the device's abilities by removing the sound dampeners, expecting that this would allow them to sneak aboard Max's ship. Expertly paced, this novel is full of old ghosts in every way possible, and will haunt you long after the last page. It’s one of those stories where, every time I hear criticism for it, I’m thinking, “Okay, sure, I get where you’re coming from… but I liked that about it!

He was just an investigator for my employer the last time I saw him, but now he is apparently the head of the whole QA Department. Claire and crew are on the last leg of their mission in space when they hear a distress beacon and go to check it out. Barnes plays nicely on human fears of both madness and of ghosts, carefully blurring the line between science fiction and horror. We’ve been living on other planets and moons for a hundred years and visiting space for even longer than that, and still, a tiny piece of metal with misaligned grooves can fuck everything up.A brilliant mix of horror, science-fiction, and psychological thriller, Dead Silence will keep you reading late into the night, while making you look over your shoulder at every sound and leave the lights on. Even negative characters that can often cause a disconnect from the story did quite the opposite, adding depth to the story because of how well they were created. p>The data controller is Headline Publishing Group Limited. What they find at the other end of the signal is a shock: the Aurora, a famous luxury space-liner that vanished on its maiden tour of the solar system more than twenty years ago.

While the shift was somewhat jarring to begin with, there were other issues that fanned my cynicism towards it.But it makes up so much ground in the telling to be well worth the read for anyone looking for a creepy, atmospheric sci-fi tale.
