The creators of Cooking Mama responded to PETA in a press release stating that "I would never put rat in my ratatouille", and indicated that not all of Mama's recipes are meat-based. A PlayStation 4 version was also announced with the game’s initial announcement in August 2019, which was released on March 25, 2021, by Planet Entertainment, but was cancelled right after.

This was the first Cooking Mama game released on a platform to receive a third-party console release. Absolute beginners are welcome as Mama will be with you every step of the way; follow her instructions carefully to make something beautiful. Other modes of play include practicing mini-games you’ve already unlocked and another where you’ll be able to combine dishes to make something a little more grand in scope. You can share recipes with four other players and even send a saved game wirelessly to a friend playing this Nintendo DS game. Cooking Mama and her family have gone on a camping trip to Adventure Island, and they’d love for you to join their fun!This is the fourth Cooking Mama game released for the 3DS, it came out November 6, 2014 for Japan, while the rest of the world got it May 16, 2017. Along with new recipes, this title expands the total number of different minigames and adds several new gameplay modes. The holiday will see you catching fish, building bonfires, making nets, grilling clams on the barbeque, cutting down trees, shooting a slingshot and much more.

Each of these tasks is performed by completing a mini-game which usually lasts less than 10 seconds. It's a good game if you have only a few minutes to spare, but if you are looking for something to pass the time in hospital, or travelling over long distances, then I would suggest that you take more games with you as this won't help you pass the time. The player's performance is rated when each dish is finished, based on the average result of each minigame. Each recipe includes one or two steps needed to make it and with them, the player can open their own cafe, where other users and NPC's would visit.Games invite you to enter the world of arts and crafts with Mama as your guide in Cooking Mama World Hobbies and Fun for the Nintendo DS. The main game will show you a few rows of meals, and after picking one, you’ll have the option of practicing it first or heading right into the challenge. The ability to customise your cooking experience by changing your outfit and pasting stickers you earn around the kitchen means you’ll feel right at home whenever you pull on your apron! Since its release on May 14, 2015, the game continues to be updated, including videos of various recipes being cooked, Mama's adventures, and other mini-games.

If the player makes a serious blunder or time expires without sufficient progress being made, that step in the cooking process is considered a failure.

You can even take notes of what you did to create your best recipes in your personal diary, where you can also keep pictures of how a finished creation should look if you get it right. The animal welfare group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) created a Flash game titled Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals [25] intended to both criticize the video game's use of meat-based recipes and to encourage veganism.
