If your longest race is a road marathon, the finish time must be under 5 hours. If you have completed an ultramarathon on road or trail, any finish time is acceptable. If you have done a road marathon in over 5 hours BUT it was at the end of an Ironman, that's acceptable.

I thought the setting of Scotland worked well for a romance and about a plot on finding your path and purpose in life. The Highland Fling – One legend associates it as a warriors dance of triumph following a battle. It was supposedly danced over a small round shield, with a spike projecting from the centre, known as a Targe. Yet another legend links the dance to a young boy imitating the antics of a stag rearing and wheeling on a hillside; the curved arms and hands representing the stag’s antlers.

The 2024 race takes place on Saturday 27th April and is a point-to-point trail ultramarathon along the southern 53 miles (85 km) of Scotland’s iconic West Highland Way trail through the Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park from Milngavie to Tyndrum.

The boy tried to copy the stag’s antics and hence we have the graceful curve of the hands and arms depicting the stag’s antlers. I also really liked most of the characters. Rowan is one of her best heroes to date, honestly. He's burly, he's grumpy, he's protective, and he's just absolutely charming with a dash of snarky humor. I loved every bit of him with my entire being, and I loved loved loved his chapters. He was everything I want from a Meghan Quinn hero and I had a great time getting in his head. In fact, I even kind of miss him. I also loved the rest of the crew, Dakota, Isla, the twins, and the rest of the townsfolk. They were charming, they were silly, and they brought a bit of joy and levity to a story that had some depth and sadness to it. Every character was lovable, even Fergus. The comradery between Bonnie/Dakota and Rowan/Isla/Leith/Lachlan were #friendshipgoals. And I'm wondering if the twins really do have some videos I could watch. 🤣 The first half was especially hard for me to get through. The author succeeded a bit too well at making Bonnie and her BFF Dakota two ugly Americans. Bonnie in particular was completely self absorbed, moving across the world at Dakota’s whim without lifting a finger to study the country or customs. This dance is now performed at dance competitions and events around the world. One goal of dancers today is to stay in the same spot throughout the dance. The Highland Fling is danced at almost all competition levels, from primary to premier. It is also performed for Highland and theory examinations. Dancers wear a kilt to perform the dance, which is in 4 The Highland Fling is the perfect rom-com. Broody hero. Excellent banter. Slow burn. Interesting side characters. I truly loved this book. Who does it? Free-Spirits, thrill seekers, outdoor enthusiasts, sports enthusiasts, adrenaline-lovers, taxi drivers, accountants, landscape gardeners, astronauts, plumbers. Get the idea? That’s right: anyone from age 10 to 110 with a sense of fun and adventure.

Highland dancing was traditionally performed by men but is now performed by men and women. It is one of few arenas where men and women compete equally. In most competitions, the number of competing women far exceeds the number of men. I'm a bit upset because this had a ton of potential! An enemies to lovers with a grumpy hero set in Scotland. I mean, how perfect is that?? But it just didn't deliver on a few thingsIt is strictly FORBIDDEN for any participant to run in place of another runner. No one is allowed to run using another runners race number.
